History
Fleetwood is a borough located in Berks County, in eastern PA. Fleetwood is over about 1 square mile and has approximately over 4000 residents located within the borough. Fleetwood was founded in 1815 and has been a vital part of Berks County, including being home to the Fleetwood Metal Body Company which became part of the General Motors Co. The Fleetwood name lived on when GM named the Fleetwood Cadillac after its roots in Fleetwood, PA.
Currently
Today you will find businesses along Main Street and lovely neighborhoods behind them. The Fleetwood Area Middle and High School are located in the boro with the new Willow Creek Elementary just outside the boro limits. There is a wonderful community park with play equipment for the kids, a baseball
field and open space to play catch. There is a stream in the back of the park where you will often be able to see some ducks. Fleetwood boro also has a
community pool that you can splash around during the summer and a
community library located at the community center. The community center is also home to the
Tri-Valley YMCA. Fleetwood is a main hub for some of the other local areas like Maidencreek township and Richmond Township.
Schools
Fleetwood, Maidencreek Township and Richmond Township are all parts of the Fleetwood School District. There are currenlty three elementary centers, one Middle School and one Jr/Sr High School. The elementary schools are divided for different areas in the district. The schools are listed below.
